Let's talk about therapy....
It takes courage, or fear of losing something or someone in your life, to choose to partner with a licensed professional and share details of yourself and your life. Choosing the right therapist can make all the difference in your ability to be comfortable and for therapy to be productive. Looking at a photo and an online profile will only give you so much information. When you meet a therapist for the first time, pay attention to how you feel. It is normal to be somewhat anxious at the initial meeting. You will hopefully find someone that pays attention to the details of your life story and with whom you feel safe and connected to speak openly. If this doesn't happen after a few sessions, you may wish to keep looking for a good match. |
